Diane Abbott Celebrates 40 years in Banking
Who would have believed that a long time friend and fellow church member would lead you to a 40-year career in banking? That was the beginning of Diane Abbott’s banking journey when John Gauldin, President of First Tennessee Bank in Dyersburg, asked her if she would like to work with him in 1979. Her banking career not only spans four decades but expanded to the state of Ohio for a couple of years. Diane eventually found her home in the banking community of Jackson, Tennessee and now celebrates milestone anniversary with Commercial Bank and Trust.
When asked what the highlight of her time at Commercial Bank and Trust has been, she stated it was the quality of leadership practiced daily. “Monte Jones (Commercial Bank and Trust of Jackson’s Community President) and Mott Ford (Commercial Bank and Trust CEO) are focused on putting the best team of bankers together and encouraging outstanding customer service. They want their employees to want to be the best when it comes to offering opportunities, products, and services to the people of Jackson and West Tennessee. Their desire is for Commercial Bank and Trust to be an extended arm of the community, jumping into volunteer projects improving all walks of life.” Diane attributes their commitment to an excellent work environment as to why their growth and employee morale have remained outstanding.
Outside of work, Diane enjoys spending time with her two daughters and five grandchildren and relaxing by the water. She loves to travel while getting to know others on her journeys. Diane is a Leadership Jackson alumni (‘93), a Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse board member, an Ayers Children’s Medical Center advisory board member, WestStar Leadership alum (1999), supporter of the Jackson Symphony, and serves several other non-profit organizations.
Monte Jones remarked, “We are fortunate to have such a distinguished, community-minded individual on our Commercial Bank and Trust team.”
